考研阅读多数在长难句处出题，然而对于同学们来说，又恰恰是长难句最难，比如2020年英一中就有这么一道题，定位句是一句超长的句子，甚至整段就这么一个句子，那么我们就来看一下这个解题句。这是2020年英一第二篇的第3段。
The Dutch giant Elsevier, which claims to publish 25% of the scientific papers produced in the world, made profits of more than £900m last year, while UK universities alone spent more than £210m in 2016 to enable researchers to access their own publicly funded research; both figures seem to rise unstoppably despite increasingly desperate efforts to change them.
放眼看来，本段一共只有一句话，较长，是我们27题解题句，读懂对我们解题非常重要。
首先这句话比较长，面对这么长的一个句子，我们先根据意群单位给他进行适当的断句。①The Dutch giant Elsevier, //②which claims to publish 25% of the scientific papers produced in the world,// made profits of more than £900m last year, //③while UK universities alone spent more than £210m in 2016 to enable researchers to access their own publicly funded research;// ④both figures seem to rise unstoppably despite increasingly desperate efforts to change them.
经过简单的断句之后，大家可以看成，分成了4个部分。只要是有从属连词的就是从句，所以我们可以很容易找到句子的主干。
①The Dutch giant Elsevier,  made profits of more than £900m last year, 主干部分。
主语是The Dutch giant Elsevier荷兰科学巨头Elsevier，made 谓语产生，profits宾语 of more than £900m 做profits的后置定语，超过9亿的利润 last year时间状语 去年。
②which claims to publish 25% of the scientific papers produced in the world, 由which引导的定语从句，修饰荷兰科学巨头Elsevier。定语从句中which做主语，claims 声称， to publish 25% of the scientific papers，to do不定式做宾语，produced in the world，-ed分词做后置定语，修饰papers。
③while UK universities alone spent more than £210m in 2016 to enable researchers to access their own publicly funded research; while在句子，连接两个并列句，表示对比。 本句中，UK universities 做主语，alone副词，单独(他自己) spent 谓语more than £210m 介词短语做状语，超过2.1亿，in 2016时间状语 to enable researchers to access their own publicly funded research，to do 不定式做目的状语，使研究者能访问他们自己的工作资助研究成果。
④both figures seem to rise unstoppably despite increasingly desperate efforts to change them. 分号后面并列一个句子，bothfigures指的是前句提到的两个数据，seem to rise 系表结构，似乎上升了， unstoppably 副词做状语，修饰上升的状态，不断地，不停地 despite increasingly desperate efforts to change them 这里是一个让步状语，尽管人们努力去改变他们。Increasingly 日益地，越来越 desperate efforts 拼命的努力
上面的拆分理解，很容易就可以把握这个长句子的大概意思：荷兰科学巨头Elsevier去年赚了9个亿，而英语的大学自己就花了超过2.1亿；而且两个数据都在上升。就可以直接解出27题的答案了：Thrived mainly on university libraries。
最后，规整一下全句意思：荷兰科学巨头Elsevier声称出版了全球25%的科学论文，去年利润超过9亿英镑。而仅英国的大学2016年就花费了超过2.1英镑，以使研究者能访问他们自己的公共资助研究成果。尽管人们越来越迫切地试图改变，但这两个数字似乎还在不断上升。
