三、连词while引导状语从句

1、引导时间状语从句：while表示“与……同时;与此同时”，表明从句和主句的动作同时发生或进行，并且常有相反或者对比的语气。

例：While computers offer these conveniences to consumers, they have many advantages for sellers too.

电脑给消费者提供了这些便利的同时，对销售者而言也有很多好处。

2、引导让步状语从句：while表示“尽管”，“虽然”，义同although或though。

例：While I admit that there are problems, I don’t agree that they cannot be solved.

尽管我承认有问题存在，但我不同意说这些问题无法解决。

四、连词so that引导状语从句;与so…that进行区分

1、引导结果状语从句：so that表示“因此”，“以至于”。

例：Nothing more was heard from him so that we began to wonder if he was dead.

再也没听到他的消息，因此我们有些怀疑他是否死了。

2、引导目的状语从句：so that表示“为了”，“以便于”。

例：She worked hard so that everything would be ready by 6 o’clock.

她拼命干以便能到6点时把一切都准备好。

3、与so…that进行区分：so/ such...that...引导的结果状语从句：表示“如此……以至于……”

例：We get so used to looking at television that it begins to dominate our lives.

我们习惯于看电视，以至于电视开始支配我们的生活。

A.分析句子结构。主句是被动结构，a variety of activities是主语，be organized是谓语;so that引导目的状语从句，participants can remain active是从句主句，as long as they want意思是“尽可能长时间地”。

B.译文：应该组织各种各样的活动，以便于参与者能够尽可能长时间地保持活跃。

2. There are upsetting parallels today, as scientists in one wave after another try to awaken us to the growing threat of global warming. [2005, text 2]

分析：

A.分析句子结构。该句的主句是There are upsetting parallels today，是there be句型，主语是upsetting parallels;as scientists in one wave after … threat of global warming是as引导的时间状语从句，as表示“当/在……时候”，主语是scientists，谓语动词是try。

B.译文：在科学家一次又一次努力使我们意识到日益增长的全球变暖威胁的时候，今天还有许多类似的令人不安的事情。
